After going to Key West the first time, the second we left, we knew we wanted to go back asap! Reed proposed to me in Destin, FL outside the Back Porch in April 2023 and then we go married the 21st night of September 🎶 in 2024.

When thinking of where we wanted to honeymoon, it didn’t take us long to settle on Key West but we wanted to spice up the trip and I am so excited to share with you all the amazing places we stayed and things we did! We flew into Miami and rented a Jeep and drove to Key West for a couple of days then ended the week in Islamorada!

First Hotel in Key West
We stayed at the The Southern Most Beach Resort the first couple of nights. The rooms were updated and clean. The best part was they have a private beach you have access too. There are multiple pools and pool bars you can go too! It is walking distance to Duvall St. Or it is very easy to get Ubers. We absolutely loved it and thought it was worth the price.
Things to Do
- Explore Duval St. – Restaurants, shops & live music in bars
- Stop in at Sloppy Joe’s & Rockhouse Live for good live music
- Dinner at Martin’s – Great drinks and atmosphere/patio
- Grab a drink near Historic Seaport
- Grab a slice of Key Lime Pie

Then to Islamorada!
This was our first time exploring outside of Key West and it did not disappoint! We stayed at Amara Cay Beach Resort and it was delightful. They also had their own private beach and a pool with a tiki bar!
The HIGHLIGHT of our trip had to be finding Captain Mike who has a private boat and picks you up right off the doc at the resort! He cruises you along the coast and then hang out at the sand bar with all the locals! We had an absolute blast…but wear your sunscreen! The sun down there is no joke on the water.
Things to Do
- Chill at the resort pool and bar
- Book Captain Mike for a day on the ocean
- Brunch/Lunch at all the places on the water around there like Robbie’s
- Fancy dinner at Kindler
